Minion Land: Attractions

4 - Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem
D-Ticket
Must be 40 in.
Guests go on a hilarious, heartfelt journey through Gru's laboratory as they train to become the next generation of Minions.

QUEUE:
In the back of the land is where a recreation of Gru's neighborhood is. Here, they can knock on doors and ring bells to hear certain people (or Minions) inside. Gru's house is in the center. Guests go in through there, passing through many rooms of his house as videos talking about Minion training play above them. Then, guests proceed into an "elevator," which takes them down to his lab.

PRE-SHOW:
Once guests get down in the room before the ride, they will see a balcony area, where Gru appears and welcomes them. He then explains why they are there: he's in search of new Minions and they've volunteered to undergo the transformation. He then plays a video where Dr. Nefario mastered a device that can turn humans into Minions. Then, the girls come in, offering to let them do the Minion training. With a bit of guilt tripping, Gru accepts. As he leaves, the girls reveal that it's their adoption day, and they have a present for Gru, but it will have to wait since the training session is about to begin.

Guests then proceed through the doors into a large theater area. Here, they sit down in one of many motion vehicles, dubbed as "Transformation Pods." They then pull down their lap bars and wait for the ride to begin. There are even non-moving pods for those who are too small to ride or do not wish to experience the motion.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
Soon enough, the doors will open and the girls will appear in a hovercraft. The Minions then fire up Dr. Nefario's Minion-inizer and shoot it at the guests, turning them into Minions. After that, they're dropped into an obstacle course to be tested on their problem-solving, teamwork skills, and ability to not die. During this, the pods move past giant fly swatters, jump over cacti, and run through a hallway of laser beams. Then, they are struck by giant boxing gloves. After dodging two of them, a third knocks them into a pit.

Luckily, the Minions come together to form a bridge. During this, the girls have the guests try to resist the banana. Unfortunately, the other Minions are unable to resist and the bridge falls apart. This sends the guests into a restricted area of the lab. Gru questions why they are there as they accidentally set off several explosions. Although Agnes loses her present, she is able to get it back. As several missiles go off, the pods fall into another hole, but they, Gru, and the girls are caught by the Minions.

During this, Agnes reveals her present. It is a plush of Gru, and although it's a little charred, he likes it. He thens surprises the girls by revealing a giant amusement park as an adoption day gift. The pods fly through this before landing with Gru on the platform. He tells them that they have completed their training and that they will officially be taken in as Minions. Unfortunately, one Minion knocks over Dr. Nefario's Minion-inizer and turns the guests back into humans, after which Gru shamefully dismisses them and orders the next group to be brought in.

POST-RIDE:
As guests leave the theater, they follow a hallway into a dance room, where Minions and others will occasionally appear. Beyond that is the Minion Mart gift shop.

In this interactive shooter walkthrough attraction, guests blast their way to supervillain stardom as they hit items, boxes, Minions, and more.

QUEUE:
Guests approach a large building advertising this year's Villain-Con, featuring posters of several villains from the Despicable Me and Minions films. They then proceed into the building, moving through several showrooms advertising villain businesses. This includes Malicious Motors, a vehicle dealership, Unlawful Outfitters, a weapon shop, Corrupt Companions, a pet shop, Diabolical Boutique, a costume shop, and Evil Escapes, a travel agency. They will also see their E-liminator X blasters displayed in a glass case.

PRE-SHOW:
Soon enough, the guests will enter a room with a TV screen, where they will stand and wait for it to come on. When it does, guests are introduced to the Vicious 6, history's most notorious group of supervillains. This consists of Belle Bottom, Stronghold, Jean Clawed, Nun-Chuck, and Svengeance, but they are looking for someone to fill the sixth spot. They don't want someone off the street, so they've arranged a challenge for guests to prove themselves. The winner will be crowned as the sixth member of the group.

Guests then proceed into the loading area. Here, a cast member will give them their E-liminator X blasters and instruct them to board the moving walkway.

RIDE EXPERIENCE:
In order to gain points, guests must shoot their way through seven rooms and destroy the most objects as possible. There are two types of blasts on their blasters. Primary is unlimited, although they are less powerful. Elemental blasts are limited, but are more powerful.

First, guests go through a practice room, where they learn how to use their blasters. Then, they will go through five more rooms, each themed to a member of the Vicious 6. They go in this order: Stronghold, Svengeance, Nun-Chuck, Jean Clawed, and Belle Bottom. Then, as a last-minute point-grabber, guests go through a room with Euroversal as the backdrop, blasting nonstop until they reach the end of the line. As they put away their blasters, they can look on the leaderboard to see who won. The winner will be the newest member of the Vicious 6.

POST-RIDE:
The ride exits into a gift shop, Evil Stuff, which sells convention items and Minion merch.
